About Us

Welcome to Twiss Gallery, based East of Buffalo Gap on the Pine Ridge Reservation in the Badlands of South Dakota, where the rich traditions of the Oglala Lakota Sioux meet contemporary artistic vision. Founded by Dustin Twiss and his wife, Angela, this gallery is a celebration of Lakota culture, nature, and the concept of Mitákuye Oyás'iŋ (we are all related). Through their unique artwork, they aim to bridge traditional Lakota knowledge with the modern world, sharing their life experiences and reverence for the land.

Dustin Twiss is an award-winning modern conceptual artist, drawing inspiration from the breathtaking natural landscapes of western South Dakota and the intricate patterns of the Fairburn agate. Working with colored pencils and paper, he creates detailed pieces that capture the spirit of local wildlife, including his acclaimed "Ferrets" drawing, while also working as a rancher near the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. His art is a testament to the sacredness of the environment, often reflecting themes of conservation and the creator.

Complementing Dustin’s drawings, Angela Twiss creates beautiful, authentic Lakota beadwork, featuring intricate designs such as the traditional sunburst pattern. Together, their work in the Twiss Gallery spans meticulously crafted jewelry—including bracelets and earrings—and fine art prints that showcase the vibrant, living culture of the Plains. Every piece at TwissGallery.shop reflects a deep, personal commitment to their heritage and high-quality craftsmanship.
